About Chasing Epic

Chasing Epic Mountain Bike Adventures is a new adventure travel company looking to reinvent the way people experience fully-outfitted and guided mountain biking in the American West. Created in 2016, owner Steve Mokan aims to raise the bar and set new industry standards to address certain gaps he perceives exist in the mountain bike vacation industry. The gaps? A trend in offering less-than-all-inclusive mountain bike vacations. A dearth of vacation options compatible with real-time work and vacation schedules.  A lack of dedicated, in-depth tour itineraries that focus entirely on known and yet-to-be-discovered domestic destinations. And a shortage of more up-scale, non-camping experiences.

His research led him to create a new mountain bike tour company that offers intermediate and experienced riders fully all-inclusive, locally guided mountain bike trips where those in-the-know want to bike – in the Western US – and when people have the time – over long weekends. Guests just need to be reasonably experienced and pack a helmet, shoes and appetite for epic single track adventure. Chasing Epic will take care of the rest.

All-inclusive trips

  • Lodging: Top-rated inns and hotels accessing a region’s trail network.
  • Meals: Breakfasts and dinners are included. Lunches take the form of on-ride nutrition drinks and snacks that are provided.
  • High-end bikes:  An all-carbon demo bike fleet includes Ibis Mojo HD3s, Ibis Ripley LS 29ers, and Niner Jet 9 29ers all included in the price. Note: if guests want to ship their bike to a destination, partner bike shops will help receive the bike, fully assemble it, then ship it home once your trip is over.
  • Professional guides: Local, home-grown professional guides are assigned to all tours. They have been chosen for their intimate knowledge of the area’s trails and biking scene. All are Wilderness First Responder certified.
  • Customized pre-trip training programs:   As part of the overall program, customers are given customized 8-week training programs hosted by Training Peaks and created by Chasing Epic's in-house coach, Through the Wall Training.  These programs are included in the trip rate.
  • Best-in-class Ride Nutrition: with Infinit Nutrition and Clif Bar.
  • Shuttles, permits and lift tickets: Provided and included as available.
  • Dedicated on-site trip leader: To make sure all runs smoothly by taking care of all the logistics, arrangements, questions, special needs and surprises.
  • Trip planning services: For clients that need to fly to a destination and may require additional nights’ accommodation, Chasing Epic can make suggestions and work with guests to plan all the travel logistics.

Trip Locations

Chasing Epic is focused on bringing their customers to the best locations during the perfect time of year, and then guiding them on the best trails in those locations. With Chasing Epic, there's no dirt-road riding; it's all about experiencing the most epic single track in the West.  Iconic and soon-to-be-legendary trip locations include:

Trip Durations and Pricing

  • Standard 3-day: $950 pp
  • Standard 4-day: $1,250 pp
  • Private/custom (minimum of 6 people): $1,050/$1,350 for 3 and 4-day, respectively

Note: All trips are booked as double occupancy, so participants should expect to share a room with another same-gender rider. Solo accommodation requests are available for an additional charge; $200 for a 3-day trip or $300 for a 4-day.

Custom trips

Additionally, Chasing Epic can put together custom, private trips for any groups over six people. They offer a new feature called "Wild Card" trips, where a guest tells them their riding style and preferred ride type (XC, AM, Trail, DH) and they decide on the location and customize an itinerary just for your group. It doesn't get any more custom than that!

Women-Only trips

These designated trips are led by accomplished female Chasing Epic trip leaders who are sponsored riders, established racers, and some of the most kick-butt mountain bikers you'll find in the US. Chasing Epic partners with the women at Colorado Backcountry to guide these rides. Trip Dates and Locations for 2016 include:

  • April 23-25 in Fruita, CO
  • August 12-15 in Crested Butte, CO
  • October 21-23 in Fruita, CO

Giving back

Chasing Epic is dedicated to helping build and grow the mountain bike community through a Local Support Program that financially gives back to the organizations that have guided and advanced mountain biking to the popular sport it is today. Chasing Epic works with IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) on the national level as well as through local clubs and organizations to support trail advocacy, expansion and education in the local communities. By partnering with these organizations, Chasing Epic is supporting the clubs themselves and also recognizing the members who put in long, thankless hours volunteering for their communities.

All-inclusive Mountain Bike Getaways Happen Over Long Weekends When People Find Time for Fun

BOULDER, CO, May 9, 2016 – High on energy but short on vacation time? The time-challenged can now enjoy long weekends biking through must-discover destinations in the Rocky Mountains and Desert Southwest, thanks to Chasing Epic’s new take on how best to serve active mountain bikers.

The solution is easy. Take a weekend and stretch it over three or four days. Make it simple for people to join in by providing everything they need – including bicycles -- for a long weekend on two wheels. Positon the ride destinations close to regional airports to save people time getting to and fro.

“We’ve all been time challenged and short on vacation time, but when we’re passionate about mountain biking, even the time-challenge among us can find a way to stack a day or two against a weekend to make a trip work,” says Steve Mokan, founder and owner of Chasing Epic.

The trips cater to experienced riders looking to discover world-class riding with like-minded and similar-ability riders on the best trails a certain destination has to offer. Ride locations include both bucket-list towns like Crested Butte, CO (where it is said mountain biking was invented), Sedona, AZ, and Park City, UT, and the lesser-known off-the-radar spots like St. George, UT, Telluride and Fruita, CO.

Pre-scheduled trips to these locations run Friday through Monday for four days and three nights at $1,250 per person or Saturday through Monday for three days and two nights at $950 per person. When climate and conditions for biking will be best in each destination is factored into the planning. Private trips from $1,050 for three days to $1,350 for four days can be arranged.

Unlike traditional point-A-to-point-B mountain bike tour companies, Chasing Epic stays in a single town in each destination and dedicates itineraries to daily rides that cover a variety of the most epic single track trails in each area. Local guides accompany the riders.

Mokan said that Chasing Epic provides a better overall experience for people who love to ride “by anticipating guest needs and partnering with the biggest names in the bike industry to put together the most all-inclusive and rewarding mountain bike vacations in today’s marketplace.  With our trips, we take care of absolutely everything. All you have to do is show up and ride!”

Chasing Epic trips are all inclusive and a per person rate includes accommodations (never camping), hearty meals, high-end demo bikes (an all-carbon demo bike fleet includes Ibis Mojo HD3s, Ibis Ripley LS 29ers, and Niner Jet 9 29ers), local guides conversant with the terrain, customized eight-week pre-trip training programs, best-in-class ride nutrition, shuttles and lift tickets, gratuities and a dedicated on-site trip leader to help control gear mashers and share the stories and laughs with a group of like-minded riders.

On the premise that “the less you suffer on the climbs, the more you’ll enjoy the descents,” Mokan has engaged coaching platform companies Training Peaks and Through the Wall Training to customize individualized training programs (valued at up to $400) for eight weeks prior to departure.

He emphasizes that these trips aren’t for touring and sightseeing. “At Chasing Epic, we pride ourselves on putting together itineraries of only the best trail systems in each location, and we don’t waste time with sightseeing rides. You’ll be on uncrowded singletrack from start to finish.”

Chasing Epic, Trail Blazing Mountain Bike Company, Announces that Champion Athlete Jen Hudak Will Lead Women-Only Park City Tour in September

BOULDER, CO, April 26, 2016 – One of many things that sets trailblazing mountain bike company Chasing Epic apart from the crowd are trip leaders chosen from the best racers, riders and overall outdoor athletes in the United States to show mountain bike guests the best trails in the West.

Chasing Epic (http://chasingepicmtb.com/) is proud to welcome Jen Hudak, a former two-time World Champion and five-time X-Games medalist skier as a new trip leader for a Sept. 16-19, 2016, Women Only 4-day trip in Park City, UT.

Now retired from skiing, Jen has transitioned into competitive mountain biking, already placing on the podium in such prestigious events like the Downieville Classic, Scott Enduro Cup, and the Sundance Utah Downhill Series. She is also racing competitively on the 2016 North American Enduro Tour.

When not sharing her passion for the mountains with others through coaching, organizing group rides and writing on her blog, http://jenhudak.com/, she works in marketing in Park City and mentors young girls' mountain biking through the Little Bellas program. She has also coached multiple women-only camps over the last several years.

Chasing Epic, the company that is changing how vacationing mountain bikers experience the best trails in the Western US, thinks it’s high time for women to have their own dedicated weekend mountain bike adventures.

Chasing Epic invites intermediate and experienced female riders to share the fun on three remaining dedicated, all-inclusive, all-women weekends. In addition to the September program in Utah which Jen will be leading, the others include an outing in Fruita Oct. 21-23 and Crested Butte, CO on Aug. 12-15. Female participants just need to be reasonably experienced and pack a helmet, shoes and appetite for epic single track adventure. See: http://chasingepicmtb.com/women-only/

“Chasing Epic is excited to offer multiple Women-Only trips throughout the year that are led by women, for women. We work with an elite roster of accomplished, fun-loving and inspiring female guides to bring you a long weekend of instruction and classic mountain biking,” said Steve Mokan, the company’s founder and owner. He is a long-time Colorado mountain biker and a veteran of the adventure sports world. “We’ll be riding some of the most incredible trails, both known and off the radar in these two iconic destinations.”

He suggests that three-and four-day mountain bike outings over long weekends that mix up riding, hiking and team building surrounded by beautiful scenery are the new way to ride and vacation at the same time.

Strategically, Chasing Epic’s trips don’t force out the inner cave girl around a tented campsite. Instead comfortable lodging accommodations are selected to represent the character of the location being explored and also for the comfort, privacy and intimacy they provide.

Chasing Epic trips are all-inclusive and ratesinclude accommodations, hearty meals, high-end demo bikes (an all-carbon demo bike fleet includes Ibis Mojo HD3s, Ibis Ripley LS 29ers, and Niner Jet 9 29ers), local guides conversant with the terrain, customized eight-week pre-trip training programs, best-in-class ride nutrition, shuttles and lift tickets, gratuities and a dedicated on-site trip leader to help control gear mashers.

Women’s only trips begin at $1,250 per person double for a four-day outing and $950 per person double for a three day trip.

On the premise that “the less you suffer on the climbs, the more you’ll enjoy the descents,” Mokan has engaged coaching platform companies Training Peaks and Through the Wall Training to customize individualized training programs (valued at up to $400) for eight weeks prior to departure.

He emphasizes that custom trips can be designed to a specific group’s abilities and desires. “At Chasing Epic, we pride ourselves on putting together itineraries of only the best trail systems in each location. You’ll be on uncrowded singletrack from start to finish.”

Chasing Epic, Trail Blazing Mountain Bike Company, Arranges Long Two-Wheel Weekends in Rockies For Team Building and Management Retreats

BOULDER, CO, April 19, 2016 – Some of us roll our eyes at team building activities we’re asked to undertake. First, these activities take us away from our electronic devices so we feel marooned. Second, the pursuits prod us into hearty-but-forced laughter when we’d rather be scowling at a screen.

So, aside from the tried and true ropes course that bonds us more with our adrenalin than with our peers, where can diverse personalities and pay grades comfortably mix it up for hours on end without it being such an unpleasant ordeal?

How about behind the handlebars of a mountain bike!

Steve Mokan, founder of Chasing Epic (http://chasingepicmtb.com/), a new mountain bike adventure travel company, suggests that three-and four-day mountain bike outings over long weekends that mix up riding, hiking and team building surrounded by beautiful scenery is the new way to go.

Trips can be catered to beginners and experienced riders alike who when concentrating on managing the terrain can be off in their own private worlds, coming back to reality over a glass of wine or beer in the evening. Bringing sweat equity to the table often accompanies team building, and that’s true after a day on single track when particular curves and boulders and descents get chatted up.

“Sometimes achievable challenges and a little suffering bring out the best in all of us!” says Mokan. “Achievable challenges when conquered together brings with it lasting bonds of respect and friendship.”

Strategically, Chasing Epic’s trips don’t force out the inner cave man around a tented campsite. Instead comfortable lodging accommodations are selected to represent the character of the location being explored and also for the comfort, privacy and intimacy they provide.

Chasing Epic offers seven mountain biking meccas in the Rockies. All-inclusive long weekends can be customized to achieve desired team-building results. Mokan also recommends these programs for management retreats. All of the itineraries utilize lesser-known trails in up-and-coming destinations in Crested Butte, Durango, Fruita and Telluride, CO; Sedona, AZ; and Park City and St. George, UT.

Chasing Epic trips are all-inclusive and ratesinclude accommodations, hearty meals, high-end demo bikes (an all-carbon demo bike fleet includes Ibis Mojo HD3s, Ibis Ripley LS 29ers, and Niner Jet 9 29ers), local guides conversant with the terrain, customized eight-week pre-trip training programs, best-in-class ride nutrition, shuttles and lift tickets, gratuities and a dedicated on-site trip leader to help control gear mashers.

Private custom group trips begin at $1,050 per person, double for a three day outing and $1,350 per person, double for a four day trip with a minimum of six participants.

On the premise that “the less you suffer on the climbs, the more you’ll enjoy the descents,” Mokan has engaged coaching platform companies Training Peaks and Through the Wall Training to customize individualized training programs (valued at up to $400) for eight weeks prior to departure.

Chasing Epic, Cutting Edge Mountain Bike Company, Names Top Ten Off-the-Radar Trails to Ride in the Rockies

BOULDER, CO, March 30, 2016– The best known trails to mountain bike in the West are also likely to be the most crowded. Serious riders are always on the lookout for the more obscure routes that one day may become legends as well. So what are the top ten off-the-radar mountain biking trails in the Rockies?

Just ask Steve Mokan who owns Chasing Epic (http://chasingepicmtb.com/), a new mountain bike adventure travel company that is refiguring the way people experience the best trails in the western US. His all-inclusive, professionally led mountain biking trips span long weekends when people have time to travel.  They also utilize lesser-known trails in up-and-coming destinations that allow them to focus on a true riding experience.

Mokan offers his personal list of favorites of which some have been incorporated into Chasing Epic’s own trip itineraries and routes in Colorado and Utah. Wyoming trails, which are also listed, are future trip additions he’s considering.

In Colorado

409s and Point Lookout, Crested Butte is a relatively new ride that includes Strand Hill, 409, 409.5 and Point Lookout. “This 17-mile ride will keep intermediate and advanced riders entertained with incredible singletrack and views to die for,” Mokan promises. http://chasingepicmtb.com/crested-butte/

West Ridge and the Red Trail, Dillon isn’t off the radar but isn’t well known eitherdespite its 20 mile course between Keystone and Breckenridge. After a gentle climb up Keystone Gulch, intermediate riders are rewarded with almost seven miles of smooth, flowy singletrack descent.

Divide Trail Epic, Steamboat Springs is 25 miles of high-alpine sweetness, best done as a shuttle, Mokan recommends. After being dropped off on Rabbit Ears Pass, intermediate to advanced riders travel through aspen groves and meadows on an incredible descent to Steamboat Ski Resort.

The Gentlemans Loop, Telluride, begins in town where intermediate riders can hop on the free gondola up to Telluride Ski Resort while anticipating 15 miles of flowing singletrack downhill, rolling XC riding and some tricky climbs. This combines the Prospect Trail, Jurassic Trail, and the Upper Valley Floor. http://chasingepicmtb.com/telluride/

Sidewinder Trail, Montrose, for intermediate riders offers almost20 miles of high elevation desert singletrack with numerous slick rock sections just south of Black Canyon National Park. There are quite a few fast sections with plenty of technical spots to keep riders on the alert. http://chasingepicmtb.com/telluride/

In Wyoming

Phillips Ridge to Phillips Canyon, Jackson Hole is accessed off Teton Pass, offering intermediate riders an awesome singletrack ride with a little bit of everything over 14.5 miles: huge valley views above Jackson Hole while experiencing a big (steady) climb, rolling XC terrain, and technical downhill.

Christina Lake Loop, Lander promises intermediate and advanced riders atrue backcountry trail riding experience on a 14-mile loop with mountain views, an incredible lake to chill at, and even some hike-a-bike thrown in. The trail is shaded and cool in the summer, offering a great opportunity to get away from crowds and explore the Lander backcountry.

In Utah

Thunder Mountain, Hatch for intermediate riders is an incredibleepic ride through Utah’s red rock country with views into Bryce Canyon National Park. This is 15 miles of a mix of smooth dirt singletrack, technical rocky sections and gently graded climbs that Mokan says “will blow you away!“ http://chasingepicmtb.com/st-george/

Santa Clara Trails, St. George for intermediate riders is a gold mine of fun just outside of St. George proper. “You get everything from flowing downhill sections to technical rock climbs, to exposed anticline rim riding.  Depending on how you feel, you can do anywhere from six to 20+ miles,” says Mokan. http://chasingepicmtb.com/st-george/

Round Valley Loop, Park City just out of town isoften overlooked in favor of the IMBA Epics like the Mid-Mountain Loop. The Round Valley trails offers intermediate riders high-desert riding with incredible views and gentle climbs, perfect for someone trying to get their high-altitude fix over 11 miles. A few rock gardens are thrown in for good measure. http://chasingepicmtb.com/park-city/

Chasing Epic trips are all-inclusive and a per person rate includes accommodations (never camping), hearty meals, high-end demo bikes (an all-carbon demo bike fleet includes Ibis Mojo HD3s, Ibis Ripley LS 29ers, and Niner Jet 9 29ers), local guides conversant with the terrain, customized eight-week pre-trip training programs, best-in-class ride nutrition, shuttles and lift tickets, gratuities and a dedicated on-site trip leader to help control gear mashers and share the stories and laughs with a group of like-minded riders.

This Spring’s Top Three Mountain Bike Destinations Lure Riders Looking for Uncrowded Singletrack, Long Sunny Weekends and All-inclusive Outfitting

BOULDER, CO, March 9, 2016– Emerging as this spring’s top three mountain bike destinations are three often-overlooked regions in America’s Southwest where temperatures hover in the high 70’s with little rain in the forecast.

The only forecast on the horizon for a three- or four-day Chasing Epic weekend is some of the finest mountain bike riding in the world for intermediate to advanced enthusiasts who will experience the best trails in each locale under the watch of local guides who know every twist and outcrop around the corner.

Fruita, CO, Sedona, AZ, and St. George, UT, are three must-ride mountain bike destinations this spring, says Steve Mokan, founder and owner of Chasing Epic (http://chasingepicmtb.com/).

“In the circle of experienced riders it seems like everyone’s done Moab. It’s too crowded and over-saturated with tour companies and riders from all over,” says Mokan. “With our off-radar, bucket list routes and destinations you won't have to worry about the crowds, just the challenging trail ahead,” he adds.

In Fruita three-day trips begin April 16 and May 28 at a per person rate of $950. Fruita (and neighboring Grand Junction) four hours from both Denver and Salt Lake City, caters well to mountain bikers, with not much going on after hours except time to tell riding stories, clean bikes and get ready for tomorrow’s challenges. It’s not unusual to see more bikes than cars on Aspen Avenue, and some of the in-town haunts (Over the Edge, Hot Tomato) are world famous. Three-day mountain biking getaways engage intermediate and advanced riders. Longer rides are easier due to few technical or extended climbs, and “the views of the Bookcliffs and Colorado River are fantastic,” he promises. He suggests the Ibis Mojo HD3 for enjoying the main networks: 18 Road (North Fruita Desert Trails), Kokopelli/Loma Trails, Rabbit Valley and the Lunch Loops in Grand Junction.

“There are enough trails to keep you busy for a week. But to get the most out of your three-day trip, you should ride with someone who knows the trails,” he recommends.

In Sedona, a four-day trip at $1,250 per person begins April 29. Sedona, just two hours north of Phoenix, is one of the most spiritual and picturesque towns in the country.  Here riders from March through May can predictably enjoy 75 degrees and sunny days while engaging in rides that Mokan says, “can be very technical, so be sure to bring you’re a game. There are plenty of intermediate-level trails as well, but expect short technical sections mixed in. In Sedona it always feels like you rode twice as far as you actually did.”

Sedona has hundreds of miles of trails in and around town, but there are also networks of shorter trails, so he suggests riders need an experienced guide to link together trails. The most famous here are Mezcal, Chuckwagon, HiLine, Slim Shady, and Hangover, with his bike choice for riding here is the Ibis Mojo HD3.

Trips to St. George, UT are scheduled for both April 8 and May 14. The per person rate is $1,250 for the 4-day April departure, and $950 for the 3-day May 14 date.  Near Snow Canyon State Park and Zion National Park, St. George is 90 minutes east of Las Vegas and under six hours from San Diego, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City.

“Spring riding in St. George is incredible, with miles of trails right in town as well as bucket list rides out on the mesas near Hurricane, only 15 minutes away,” ‘Mokan explains. “Spring weather is perfect for mountain biking both in the valley and on the mesas. The popular trails here are Hurricane Rim (an IMBA Epic), Gooseberry Mesa, Guacamole, Little Creek, the Santa Clara trails, and the Zen trail.

“St. George trails aren't too technical on average, and they're not physically difficult either.  It's a great mix of fun technical features mixed in with gentle, rolling terrain.  The views are incredible in every direction. Our weapon of choice for St. George is the Ibis Ripley LS,” Mokan adds.

Unlike traditional point-A-to-point-B mountain bike tour companies, Chasing Epic stays in a single town in each destination and dedicates itineraries to daily rides that cover a variety of the most epic single track trails in each area.

Chasing Epic, New, Innovative Mountain Biking Company, Announces Women-Only Single Track Adventures

BOULDER, CO, Feb. 29, 2016–The company that is changing how vacationing mountain bikers experience the best trails in the Western US thinks it’s high time for women to have their own dedicated weekend mountain bike adventures.

Chasing Epic (http://chasingepicmtb.com/), which is raising the bar and setting new standards in the world of mountain biking vacations, invites intermediate and experienced female riders to share the fun on three dedicated, all-inclusive, all-women weekends: April 23-25 and Oct. 21-23 in Fruita-Grand Junction, CO, and Aug. 12-15 in Crested Butte, CO.

On these trips Chasing Epic has partnered with Colorado Backcountry out of Crested Butte, CO. The company is owned and operated by Janae Pritchett, who is a Santa Cruz/Juliana-sponsored athlete and a five-time US Telemark Extreme Skiing Champion. She has won numerous triathlons and mountain bike races across the United States. Other trip leaders are all accomplished female mountain bikers with additional accolades and accomplishments under their belts.  These include cross country and downhill mountain bike racers, the former Rocky Mountain ambassador for SheJumps.org, the second woman to climb/ski all 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado and the co-author of multiple backcountry skiing guide books.

“Our Women-Only trips include custom itineraries geared towards making each ride special and spectacular,” Mokan added. Included in the per person rates ($950 for the three-day Fruita programs and $1,250 for the four-day Crested Butte program) are inn and hotel lodging (never camping), hearty meals, high-end demo bikes (an all-carbon demo bike fleet includes Ibis Mojo HD3s, Ibis Ripley LS 29ers, and Niner Jet 9 29ers), local guides conversant with the terrain, customized eight-week pre-trip training programs, best-in-class ride nutrition, shuttles and lift tickets, gratuities and a dedicated on-site trip leader to help control gear mashers and share the stories and laughs with a group of like-minded riders.

The sleepy town of Fruita caters well to mountain bikers, with not much going on after hours except time to tell riding stories, clean bikes and get ready for tomorrow’s ride. It’s not unusual to see more bikes than cars on Aspen Avenue, and some of the in-town haunts (Over the Edge, Hot Tomato) are world famous. In the spring and fall, Fruita is a must-visit destination for those seeking adventure.

Crested Butte is truly a mecca of mountain biking, and according to some it’s where it all began. Dating back to the 1980’s, the town of Crested Butte has been at the forefront of the sport, and today it’s at the top of every rider’s “to-do” list.

“With hundreds of miles of trails, almost all accessible from town, there’s enough here to keep even the most avid mountain biker busy for weeks. Some of the more famous trails are the 401 Trail, Doctor Park, The Dyke and Strand Hill,” said Mokan.

Unlike traditional point-A-to-point-B mountain bike tour companies, Chasing Epic stays in a single town in each destination and dedicates itineraries to daily rides that cover a variety of the most epic single track trails in each area.

Chasing Epic, a New Adventure Tour Company, Raises the Bar and Reinvents Mountain Bike Vacations

BOULDER, CO, Feb. 25, 2016– Steve Mokan is looking to change the way mountain bikers experience the best trails in the Western US.  The result is the recent launch of his new mountain bike tour company, Chasing Epic (http://chasingepicmtb.com/), which aims to raise the bar and set new standards in the mountain biking world. The focus is to offer intermediate and experienced riders fully all-inclusive, locally guided mountain bike trips where those in-the-know most want to bike -- the American West – and when everybody has the time – over long weekends. Guests just need to be reasonably experienced and pack a helmet, shoes and appetite for epic single track adventure.

Mokan, a long-time Colorado mountain biker and a veteran of the adventure sports world, has worked with adventure travel companies, outdoor gear manufacturers, and ski resorts across the West as a professional photographer with his other venture, Switchback Photography.  Over a 10-year commercial journey he saw a glaring hole in the present mountain bike adventure travel industry.

“Participants on most mountain biking adventures today are being asked to bring too much to the table before the fun even begins,” he says. “Without proper guidance and advice it can be daunting in busy professional and family schedules to follow a checklist of pre-trip preparation, specialized gear and shipment of your own bike (or choosing from a fleet of rentals) before getting on a trail.”

He says Chasing Epic fills that gap and provides a better overall experience for people who love to ride “by anticipating guest needs then partnering with the biggest names in the bike industry to put together the most all-inclusive and rewarding mountain bike vacations in today’s marketplace.  With our trips, we take care of absolutely everything- all you have to do is show up and ride!”

Chasing Epic’s adventures include inn and hotel lodging (never camping), hearty meals, high-end demo bikes (an all-carbon demo bike fleet includes Ibis Mojo HD3s, Ibis Ripley LS 29ers, and Niner Jet 9 29ers), local guides conversant with the terrain, customized eight-week pre-trip training programs, best-in-class ride nutrition, shuttles and lift tickets, gratuities and a dedicated on-site trip leader to help control gear mashers and share the stories and laughs with a group of like-minded riders.

The destinations for these adventures are, in Colorado; Crested Butte, Durango, Fruita and Telluride, in Arizona; Sedona, and in Utah; Park City and St. George.

Unlike traditional point-A-to-point-B mountain bike tour companies, Chasing Epic stays in a single town in each destination and dedicates itineraries to daily rides that cover a variety of the most epic singletrack trails (known and unknown) in each area.

“This is possible by working with local guides who have been riding and building trails in these destinations for decades.  Each itinerary is unique, you'll never ride the same set of trails twice with us. We also make sure we're hitting these locations at the best time of the year: the Desert Southwest in the spring, Crested Butte and Park City in July (wildflowers), and the mountain towns in the fall for the changing aspens,” he underscores..

On pre-set scheduled trips the per person rates are $950 for three days and $1,250 for four days, regardless of location. For private, exclusive customized trips the per person rate is $1,150 for three days and $1,450 for four days based on a group of six or more.

You’ll be on singletrack from start to finish.”
