Why Moab?

Its postcard-perfect desert is adorned with giant sandstone formations, canyon mazes, rock spires, hoodoos and fins plus thousands of natural arches. The Colorado River flows past its northern border and several national and state parks are accessible from Moab.  Between the red rock wonders of Arches National Park, the incredible sandstone landscapes of Canyonlands National Park, and the cool forests of the La Sal Mountains, Moab offers endless opportunity for sight-seeing and exploration.

The town, with a resident population of just 5,000 swells to two to three times that in the popular spring to fall recreation season. Through the experts at MAC visitors can find great accommodation choices with dozens of hotels in Moab, condos, campgrounds and RV parks throughout Moab’s southwestern-style Main Street area.

Area Attractions

  • Arches National Park

Arches National Park preserves over two thousand natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, in addition to a variety of unique geological resources and formations. In some areas, faulting has exposed millions of years of geologic history. The extraordinary features of the park, including balanced rocks, fins and pinnacles, are highlighted by a striking environment of contrasting colors, landforms and textures.

  • Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands National Park preserves a colorful landscape of sedimentary sandstones eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. the park sits in a vast basin bordered by sheer cliffs of Wingate Sandstone.

  • Dead Horse Point State Park

Located about 25 miles from Moab, Dead Horse Point is a popular destination for a day-trip. The central feature of the park is the spectacular vista that opens up as you stand on the edge of a 2,000 cliff overlooking Canyonlands National Park.

  • Manti-La Sal National Forest and Mountains

Along the eastern Utah border near Moab, the La Sal Mountains rise 12,721 feet above sea level. This part of the Forest provides climatic relief to the desert of the Colorado River Plateau. Narrow forest roads lead travelers to the high mountain passes, and into narrow canyons like Dark Canyon where the crystalline rock structure of the peaks is exposed for all to see or into Mill Creek where Oowah Lake sparkles as a small jewel amid spruce trees.

What to Do in Moab

Bordering town, the mighty Colorado skirts Arches National Park and cuts through the heart of Canyonlands National Park. Nearby, the historic and beautiful Green River carves its serpentine path through canyons deeper than the Grand Canyon. Trips range from mild-to-wild one-day and half-day excursions to multi-day rafting vacations. The Moab Adventure Center has information, continuous big-screen videos and special pricing. Advance reservations are suggested. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/rafting

Moab’s must-do hike is the maze-like Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park. The hike twists and turns among contorted orange-tan fins, towers, spires and arches. Moab Adventure Center guides/naturalists lead two-hour hikes in this trackless area, pointing out hidden attractions such as Surprise and Twin Arches. Although the walk/hike is moderately strenuous in places, it can be enjoyed by anyone in reasonably good physical condition. A brief tour of the Park is provided along with the hike. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/activities/hiking.php

Find yourself literally attached to this iconic red rock landscape!  See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/rock-climbing/

Many cyclists first heard about Moab when word spread about the Moab Slickrock Trail which loops through an expanse of rippled, undulating sandstone resembling a frozen, orange ocean. Although the Slickrock may be the nation’s most famous fat-tire route, there are dozens of other rock-and-mountain roads and trails. Rides range from a few hours to three or four days. Even novice riders can sign up for relatively level, easy terrain. The Moab Adventure Center has several guided trips and information. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/biking

The sheer magnificence of the several state and national parks and monuments surrounding Moab can best be appreciated from the airborne perspective of an eagle. In just an hour or two of flight-seeing, you can experience all of Canyonlands National Park, including the sculptured, red-rock canyons of the Colorado and Green rivers. Comfortable and reliable Cessna aircraft provide window seating for each passenger. A detailed flight map and stereo headsets facilitate interpretation.  See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/flights

For those that have done it, they say it is like nothing else. The ride is smooth and tranquil in a balloon as you fly with the wind, rather than through it like fixed wing planes. With no fixed route or determined flight path, each balloon ride is a true adventure. Add to these sensations the thrill of an undulating desert floor rising and falling below you in dramatic sheer cliffs, spires, and gaping canyon country as far as the early morning light extends.  See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/hot-air-balloon-rides-moab-utah/

Venture into the Wild West with gentle cowboy-trained quarter horses. Guided by a professional wrangler, you'll explore the trails made famous by John Wayne himself. New tack and equipment will make your ride as comfortable as can be. So saddle-up and take a trek into the horizon of Moab. One of the best horseback rides can be found through Castle Creek Canyon with views of towering cliffs and famous Castle Rock.  See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/horseback

Climbing into Fall - Cliffs and Canyons of Moab, Utah, Offer Perfect Autumn Escape

MOAB, UT, Sep. 1, 2020 – The adventurous share one thing in common. They count on Nature to help them recharge and reach new personal highs and goals.

America’s red rock playground in Moab, Utah, offers one challenge after another. This region is widely regarded as one of the best rock climbing and canyoneering destinations in the world. These are two pursuits often cited for helping people overcome their fears and meet other challenges in their lives.

“When people cluster at the bottom of a canyon wall waiting to climb, they’re already moving themselves mentally and emotionally out of their comfort zones,” says Cort Wright, General Manager of the Moab Adventure Center (www.moabadventurecenter.com/) in Moab. This is the go-to place for organizing adventures around Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.

“Helping people learn the fundamentals of rock climbing is a favorite for our guides,” he adds. “Moab Adventure Center takes our customer experience very seriously. We’ve targeted excellent locations and created some wonderful programs that allow our guides and instructors to provide experiences that appeal to young and old, regardless of skill level.”

Conquering a canyon is a sure bet for a small group and team-building activity, Wright explains why.

  • First, new challenges like rock climbing have amazing potential to build self-confidence and bring people closer together.
  • Second, when climbing, you have to do things that are outside of your comfort zone. When you’re all alone up there on the canyon wall, no one is next to you telling you what to do. You have to make decisions for yourself and by yourself. You learn quickly whether or not those decisions are good. If a decision turns prickly, you fail fast and move on. This process of making it to the top is all on your own.
  • Third, rock climbing is a great bonding experience. Maneuvering up – or down – a rock face is a personal challenge. Families, for example, get out of a child’s way – and head -- and let them figure it out for themselves. When this happens, it’s magic! Children – and adults -- come off the rock and feel so proud of themselves.

Fall is the perfect time to escape the heat and enjoy the usually dry climate. Rock climbing and canyoneering are offered here through November. Sessions are approximately five hours, morning or afternoon. All guides are trained and certified by the Association for Canyoneering Education (ACE). They have passed every advanced canyoneering and rescue course ACE has and have customized their knowledge to fit the needs of Moab Adventure Center guests and participants.

The per person rate for Moab Rock Climbing Introduction is $107 ($92 for ages 5-12). Participants at all skill levels learn through guided instruction how to improve face and crack climbing techniques, how to use and care for equipment, the techniques of knot and rope work and of basic belaying and descending. For details see https://www.moabadventurecenter.com/moab-rock-climbing

The per-person rate for The Ultimate Moab Canyoneering Adventure is $107 ($92 for ages 10-12). Guests learn how to rappel 90’ into a secluded grotto and then drop 120’ off a natural bridge to a natural spring. The experience is finished off with a 3.5-mile hike along a stream through a hidden canyon on the way back out to the Colorado River. For details see https://www.moabadventurecenter.com/moab-canyoneering

Private Moab Rock Climbing Lessons are perfect for small groups up to four participants. The group rate is $425 and hands-on classes run approximately 5 hours. See: https://www.moabadventurecenter.com/private-moab-rock-climbing-lessons

Online Booking is Unsung Hero Assisting Summer Visitors, Says Moab Adventure Center

MOAB, UT, Aug. 12, 2020 – In Moab, Utah, online booking is the unsung hero of this pandemic-weary, contact-concerned summer. Moab Adventure Center, the pulse point for all things adventure related in this world-renowned playground of red rock, reports online bookings are up significantly over the same period in 2019.

“More people are booking their Moab day trip activities online, avoiding person-to-person contact, closer to the day of departure than ever before,” said Cort Wright, Moab Adventure Center Manager.

During one week in June, 64 percent of bookings came in online compared to 57 percent the same week last year. Pointing to a strong recovery, overall June sales were up 27 percent over 2019 which was also a record year. Trip bookings in July also showed similar trends.

With COVID-related concerns on their minds, Wright noted that visitors are planning excursions to Moab closer to their desired arrival date. However, many bookings from overseas destinations have been postponed from this summer to next year.

Although the Moab Adventure Center offers a full spectrum of activities that can be enjoyed as private tours, Wright said most clients are opting for their regularly scheduled small group programs, which often means mingling with others while enjoying an adventure.

“Visitors are confident that we are taking seriously newly instituted protocols and preparations that will keep pandemic issues at bay,” said Wright. “More and more as we work our way through this, our visitors display an increased confidence in how we’re making things work. Overall, operations are feeling more and more normal.”

So far this season the most popular activities are those that come with healthy doses of fresh air: backcountry Hummer safaris, half and full-day Moab river rafting excursions, zip lining and canyoneering. To accommodate the surge in demand for half-and full-day rafting adventures while also keeping protocols in mind, Moab Adventure Center is sending additional boats on each trip to help provide better spacing and fewer people per raft.

In addition to booking activities online and last minute, the Moab Adventure Center is seeing an uptick in bookings of multiple activities, over multiple days via one easy transaction.

“We’re a vacation destination where people can feel comfortable getting outside in a healthy, sun-splashed environment. We see Moab as an increasingly attractive drive-to market where Arches and Canyonlands National Parks act as magnets offering travelers enticing places to escape and take a deep breath,” said Wight.

Moab’s vacation-related accommodations are open and following new cleaning protocols between each room use. Area restaurants are open for carry-out and will also seat a limited number of diners inside and on patios with appropriate spacing. Travelers won’t want to wait too late to book their accommodations and tours though, as many are now sold out for 2020.

According to a study conducted by the University of Minnesota, “Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. From the Jurassic Period to Present Times Moab Adventure Center Suggests Winter Activity in Utah’s Arches and Canyonlands

The cooler temperatures of winter signal an eagerness for adventure in the high-desert, red-rock playground of Moab, Utah. By early March the folks here will herald spring, open campgrounds, assess the winter snowpack and predict how it will influence river rafting come summer.

This recreation hub welcomes visitors during the quiet weeks remaining before the bustle begins. In fact, the Moab Adventure Center, open year-round, has a check list of preferred activities during these quiet weeks.

Local experts recommend first visiting the newly opened Moab Giants Dinosaur Park & Tracks (interactive) Museum. A Dinosaur Discovery Tour reveals Moab as the original Jurassic park. Then the endless expanse comprised of Arches National Park and CanyonlandsNational Park invites the curious to ponder where those ancient creatures might have ambled and foraged.

Following are suggestions on how to step into the Jurassic period (up to nearly 200 million years ago) while in Moab in 2020.

  • Moab 4x4 Hummer Tours range from two to four hours and even include a Sunset Safari Hummer Tour with hors d’oeuvres.
  • Moab Jeep Rentals enable private forays into backcountry that last a full day.
  • Mountain Biking Tours (which begin in March) in this mountain biking mecca include the Klondike Bluffs Mountain Bike Tour, a four-hour-plus adventure that leads to views of prehistoric dinosaur tracks and an astonishing overlook of Arches National Park.
  • Afternoon Horseback Trail Rides (also begin in March) showcase 2,000 foot towering red rock cliffs on the way to Castle Rock.
  • A Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride (March through October) offers the perfect vantage point to view the red rock desert and canyons of Moab and peaks of the 13,000’ snow-covered La Sal Mountains.
  • Moab Flightseeing Tours can be scheduled year-round for flights over Arches, Canyonlands or both, and also for nearby Monument Valley.
  • Moab High Ropes Course (opens in March) is a two-hour adrenalin agitator with an array of 40-foot towers connected by heavy-duty bolts and cables.
  • Hiking Arches National Park is a year-round, four-hour morning tour for hikers exploring this ancientplateau concealing more than 2,000 natural arches, representing the highest concentration of such wonders on the planet.

Through the late winter season, Moab Adventure Center recommends tapping into http://udottraffic.utah.gov to see real-time road conditions across Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Dec 3, 2019 – Taking ownership – and responsibility – for a pet, a cause or even a place comes after people feel vested in the pet, cause or place.

Take a place called Moab, Utah, for example. Every year this region known as the red rock playground is a joyful discovery for thousands of first-time visitors. But as the word continues to spread about this breathtaking destination, a new set of challenges arises.

On one hand, it’s a blessing to local businesses and economy that this remote region of Utah along the Colorado River is so popular. On the other hand, with every sound of an ATV and even with the quieter pace of a mountain bike or step of a hiking boot comes the potential to erode the playground’s fragile infrastructure.

“When our guests depart the river after a rafting adventure, or hike out of a canyon after canyoneering or step off a horse after horseback riding, or float over all of this beauty in a hot air balloon, they’re forever changed. And they ‘get’ why we ask them to become stewards of this landscape,” says Brian Merrill, CEO of Western River Expeditions that guides guests through the rapids of the Colorado River. A sister company, Moab Adventure Center, arranges activities for people staying for a day or a week in or around Moab.

Merrill’s team is taking a lead in inviting its guests to “Do It Like a Local.” This is the Moab Area Travel Council’s engaging video campaign showing guests how to vest themselves in Moab’s future by being respectful visitors. See https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiCq99E3e2EQkpbJIq0pnAw

“I don’t think we have a problem of too many people, but we do have challenges on how to disperse them at certain times of day and in busy months,” says Merrill. “Our challenge is to showcase the region in the spring, fall and winter. The beauty doesn’t go away – but the crowds do.”

The region is expanding infrastructure to keep up with visitor demand. In 2020 an additional 500 lodging rooms are scheduled to come on line. However, since this infrastructure was approved, both city and county have created moratoriums on new nightly rentals, including turning a spare bedroom into an Airbnb. To help disperse visitors, regional and state marketing efforts are trying to divert people to a myriad of iconic sites beyond the bucket list Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.

“Some long-time locals want the town to go to sleep again. Others value the fact that things are going well here. Fairly recent transplants bring along a not-in-my-backyard attitude and want to shut the door behind them. I understand all these sentiments,” Merrill says. He notes that Western River Expeditions does have approval for occupancy in a building that will house up to 64 employees, helping the company retain valuable seasonal employees and reducing the demand on local housing.

Jason Taylor is operations manager for the company’s Utah and Moab-specific programs. His messaging to Western River Expeditions and Moab Adventure Center guests echoes that of the Moab Area Travel Council. Additional sustainable practices include giving guests who are on multi-day outings steel vacuum water bottles they can take home with them, thus eliminating plastic. Recycling and using energy-efficient tools are imbedded into the protocol, as is the importance of hiring locally.

In addition, a major part of what Western River Expeditions and Moab Adventure Center are doing, according to Brandon Lake, VP and Co-Founder of Moab Adventure Center, is to help guests understand how to create a low impact during their guided exploration of the area. “Guides who can teach guests how and where to hike, ride and drive in our fragile landscapes can make a major difference in reducing impact over those who explore these same areas on their own without understanding the damage they may be doing.” This is one of the many benefits to choosing a local tour company to help you experience Moab.

Moab Adventure Center Recommends Booking Popular Private Tours Well Before Arriving at Utah’s Red Rock Playground

MOAB, UT,  – Time for relaxing together is a precious commodity. That’s why Moab Adventure Center, the go-to specialists in how to have fun and adventure in Moab, Utah, is seeing an uptick in guided sightseeing and adventure tours that are guest-exclusive – or private.

“Sometimes making small talk with strangers on a group tour isn’t in the cards,” said Moab Adventure Center Manager, Cort Wright. “More and more, families, friends and colleagues want an exclusive experience all their own, where it is easier to be there for each other.”

Adventures that have an intimate, romantic twist, such as rafting the Colorado at sunset followed by a candlelight dinner, have seen requests jump 50 percent this past year for private experiences. Also showing growth are private Hummer Safaris that are up 50 percent; there’s also growth in request for full-day, private rafting trips and horseback riding excursions. Privacy is also increasingly valued on scenic flights by hot air balloon and by small aircraft over Arches National Park.

Some guests find that tackling a new sport, like mountain biking or rock climbing or canyoneering, is best enjoyed if strangers aren’t around to ogle or critique their progress. Booking private experiences where you know the other participants is the key.

“If you know that visiting Moab is on your schedule for 2020, we suggest you go onto the Moab Adventure Center website (https://www.moabadventurecenter.com) well in advance of your planned arrival to arrange your private tours and to make sure you get into a group tour activity that works for your vacation schedule,” said Wright.

Moab Adventure Center offers an expanding menu of private tours for exploring this red rock playground situated between two national parks; Arches and Canyonlands. Clients can build a romantic river escape for just two or an active multi-generational family outing with age-appropriate activities and challenges such as national park tours, mountain biking, Hummer safaris and canyoneering. The Moab Adventure Center can design a custom program for just a day or plan a weeklong multi-day itinerary based on specific requests. The benefits of a custom trip may be, among others, to compliment travel schedules, to provide more intimate personal experiences, to bring unusual dining adventures to the tour and to let clients determine how and where they want to spend their time.

Privacy and exclusivity are usually top of mind when groups of any size plan an outing. Groups, large or small, seeking privacy are advised to start planning months in advance for the best availability and options. Corporate and special-interest groups are advised to plan minimally eight months to a year out in order to secure appropriate accommodations. A popular potpourri for corporate groups combines whitewater rafting with a Hummer Safari excursion and an afternoon in the national park with ample time for bonding and meetings. Some groups may want to go extreme adventure, while others seek an easy experience. Typical group itineraries of two to three nights start with a welcome dinner at a resort, breakfast, corporate meeting, activity, corporate dinner, guest speaker the following day, another activity, possible another meeting, then end with a farewell dinner and high-energy party.

Moab Adventure Center Sees Day Trip Activity Bookings Soar 25 Percent in First Half 2019

MOAB, UT, June 19, 2019 – The population of America’s red rock playground, Moab Utah, in winter hovers at just over 5,000 residents. Spring through fall, however, is a different story.

There are some 2.4 million guests visiting the region when temperatures are most inviting. They come to witness the spectacles of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and to immerse themselves in the air, land and water adventures that have put Moab squarely on the tourist map.

The go-to hub for many visitors is the Moab Adventure Center that in 2019 is experiencing a nearly 25 percent uptick in advance reservations for day or half-day adventures. Moab Adventure Center can make arrangements for everything there is to do here, from hot air ballooning and overland Hummer safaris to flightseeing, canyoneering and river rafting.

“We’ve been experiencing growth ever since we opened our doors nearly two decades ago,” said Brandon Lake, CMO. One strategy that has paid off is an ongoing collaboration with RESMARK Systems that services local and far-flung vendors in the recreation industry with tour booking software that provide state-of-art reservation and sales technology. As a result, Moab Adventure Center today may well be one of the most tech-astute companies in the country.

Recently, Moab Adventure Center adapted Resmark Systems’ TrueConnect platform, resulting in a nearly 120 percent surge in reservations from third-party, off-site bookings. These are other subcontractors and companies using the RESMARK platform and who, through TrueConnect, can now access real-time inventory for all of Moab Adventure Center’s offerings.

“TrueConnect is helping many local businesses in the tourist sector provide, through Moab Adventure Center, products that represent the best possible adventure experience for guests to the Moab area,” Lake said.

Lake points to other factors that have led to the robust sales they have seen in the first half of 2019: the local and state tourism boards’ aggressive marketing; increased lodging capacity with additions of new accommodations including popular hotel brands such as Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton; and not to be overlooked, America’s continued love affair with its national parks. All have added incrementally to this surge.

Among the most dramatic booking increases over last year are:

Other popular day activities include jeep rentals, visiting the new Dinosaur Park and standup paddle boarding.

“Moab Adventure Center’s digital activities menu provides options for the most active to slower-paced members of a family or group,” added Lake.

About True Connect

While some tour booking applications feature a marketplace that connects suppliers and resellers, or even their own exclusive marketplace, RESMARK’s TrueConnect takes this to a whole new level. Central to RESMARK’s core architecture, TrueConnect allows tour resellers to create their own network, tailoring their tour mix perfectly to their target customers within their unique region. It's like becoming the Amazon of travel for any given part of the world. You can even customize tour marketing details and pricing via each distribution channel. This results in more tour sales, both self-operated and subcontracted through partners.

About the Moab Adventure Center

Moab Adventure Center is at the epicenter of nature-themed adventure, promising activities that include rafting, jet boating, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, mountain biking and hot air ballooning. Hummer safaris, rock climbing, canyoneering and horseback riding are popular. Many of these activities are conducted with guides, an arrangement that helps preclude the kind of damage to the land that can happen when uneducated visitors venture into areas where they shouldn’t be. Guides help people understand where they can move through back country with the least impact possible.

Moab Adventure Center Launches New Rock Climbing and Canyoneering Adventures with Dedicated Staff

MOAB, UT, March 14, 2019 – Moab, Utah, is widely regarded to be one of the best rock climbing and canyoneering destinations in the world. However, many people who come to Moab have never experienced scrambling up a rock face or rappelling off a wall into a canyon below.

That’s why one outfitter in the red rock playground of Moab is hosting new canyoneering and rock climbing adventures for 2019 that will be planned, staffed and orchestrated solely by its own team of professionals who are focused on creating a satisfying experience for adventurers at any level.

“Moab Adventure Center (https://www.moabadventurecenter.com/) takes our customer experience very seriously,” said Cort Wright, General Manager of Moab Adventure Center. “We’ve targeted excellent locations and created some wonderful programs that will allow our guides and instructors to provide experiences to appeal to both young and old regardless of skill level.”

Both programs, offered April through November, are scheduled in the mornings and afternoons for approximately five hours duration.

The per-person rate for The Ultimate Moab Canyoneering Adventure is $104 ($89 for ages 10-12). Guests learn how to rappel 90’ into a secluded grotto and then drop 120’ off a natural bridge to a natural spring. The experience is finished off with a 3.5-mile hike along a stream through a hidden canyon on the way back out to the Colorado River. Included are all required gear and safety equipment, guided instruction, snacks and water and transfers to and from the canyoneering site. For details see https://www.moabadventurecenter.com/moab-canyoneering

The per person rate for Moab Rock Climbing Introduction is $104 ($89 ages 5-12). Participants at all skill levels learn through guided instruction how to improve face and crack climbing techniques, how to use and care for equipment, the techniques of knot and rope work and of basic belaying and descending. This can help transition climbers from a climbing gym to real rock or even offer the ideal first experience for someone who has never tried rock climbing. A variety of routes and a relaxed atmosphere allow guests to progress at their own pace. For details see https://www.moabadventurecenter.com/moab-rock-climbing

All guides are trained and certified by the Association for Canyoneering Education (ACE). They have passed every advanced canyoneering and rescue course ACE has and have customized their knowledge to fit the needs of Moab Adventure Center guests and participants.

“While we want this to be an adventure for our guests, we believe in adequately preparing them before their first rappel or climb so that they feel confident in their skills,” emphasized Wright. “We want all of our guests not only to say they did it, but that they enjoyed it and were able to develop a new set of skills they didn't have before.”

Moab Adventure Center, the go-to specialists in everything to do in Moab, bundles assorted activities and lodging to maximize enjoyment of Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.

Moab Adventure Vacations Made Easy - Two Perfect Ways to Experience the Best, In Just Four Days

MOAB, UT, Feb. 6, 2019 – Two popular multi-day adventure vacation packages invite active travelers to explore the wonders in and around the red rock playground of Moab, Utah, during the 2019 season. But visitors take note: due to the growing demand for quick escapes, space will go fast!

Moab Adventure Center (www.moabadventurecenter.com), the go-to specialists for all the outdoor pursuits Moab is famous for, has seen bookings increase every year for its four-day Southwest Sampler and their 4-day Westwater Canyon Multi-Sport vacation packages.

“We’ve experienced unsurpassed growth over the past several years on our multi-day tours that include activities and lodging,” reports Brandon Lake, company CMO. “For 2019, we took action and have doubled our guest capacity on the ever popular Moab, Utah vacation package, the Southwest Sampler.”

There’s good availability now for the spring and summer on all Moab Adventure Center’s offerings, but Lake suggests booking soon for the coming season.

“These popular programs fit perfectly into the type of escape visitors are now into,” explains Lake. “They are short (just four days and three nights), the activities are thrilling but easy enough for most everyone to enjoy, as multisport programs the action never stops (think Hummer Safari, an Arches National Park Tour, and whitewater rafting), one package offers a mix of camping and hotel lodging, and with both, there’s ample time to fill out the week by further exploring Moab and the surrounding region pre- or post-trip.”

Bundling the activities rather than reserving a la carte also saves money.

Keeping pace with increased sales and demand, new for 2019 is a partnership between the Moab Adventure Center and the newly opened SpringHill Suites by Marriott for lodging. Offering twice as many guest rooms as the previous property utilized, it has enabled the tour operator to double guest capacity on its Southwest Sampler package. Widely considered to be the best family hotel in Moab, it offers multiple pools, hot tubs, and a kid’s canyon, complete with a splash pad and waterfalls.

Moab Adventure Center’s Southwest Sampler captures the best of the Southwest over four days and three nights from May through August. Guests lodge the first two nights at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott that enjoys the closest proximity to Arches National Park of any lodging in town. From here, guests enjoy an off-road Hummer Safari through a fantasyland of slickrock. Then comes a two-day, 19.6-mile river rafting adventure through Class I and II rapids, with one night of pampered beach camping on the banks of the Colorado River. The per person rate is $690 for ages 16 and up and $595 for ages 5-15. Thanks to the amenities and easy river passage this is a program that can suit the needs of young families with children as young as age 5. See: https://www.moabadventurecenter.com/southwest-sampler

Westwater Canyon Multi-Sport engages Moab’s breathtaking backcountry via a red rock Hummer Safari and rafting the Class III-V rapids of the Colorado River while coursing through Westwater Canyon. This is a four-day getaway available from June through September. The package includes three luxury nights of lodging at Red Cliffs Lodge situated on the banks of the Colorado River. National Geographic dubbed the 26-mile rafting adventure through Westwater Canyon “The West’s Best Short Whitewater Trip." There’s an optional horseback ride in Castle Valley where movies and commercials are frequently shot. The package for ages 16 and up is $705; for youth 12-15 $675. Included are three breakfasts, accommodation, one dinner, one on-river lunch, activities and transfers to and from the raft put-in.
