Surrounded by an immense red rock playground, Moab, Utah, is unlike any other place in the world. Its postcard-perfect desert is adorned with giant sandstone formations, canyon mazes, rock spires, hoodoos and fins plus thousands of natural arches. The Colorado River flows past its northern border and several national and state parks are accessible from Moab. Between the red rock wonders of Arches National Park, the incredible sandstone landscapes of Canyonlands National Park, and the cool forests of the La Sal Mountains, Moab offers endless opportunity for sight-seeing and exploration.
The town, with a resident population of just 5,000 swells to two to three times that in the popular spring to fall recreation season. Through the experts at MAC visitors can find great accommodation choices with dozens of hotels in Moab, condos, campgrounds and RV parks throughout Moab’s southwestern-style Main Street area.
Arches National Park preserves over two thousand natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, in addition to a variety of unique geological resources and formations. In some areas, faulting has exposed millions of years of geologic history. The extraordinary features of the park, including balanced rocks, fins and pinnacles, are highlighted by a striking environment of contrasting colors, landforms and textures.
Canyonlands National Park preserves a colorful landscape of sedimentary sandstones eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. the park sits in a vast basin bordered by sheer cliffs of Wingate Sandstone.
Located about 25 miles from Moab, Dead Horse Point is a popular destination for a day-trip. The central feature of the park is the spectacular vista that opens up as you stand on the edge of a 2,000 cliff overlooking Canyonlands National Park.
Along the eastern Utah border near Moab, the La Sal Mountains rise 12,721 feet above sea level. This part of the Forest provides climatic relief to the desert of the Colorado River Plateau. Narrow forest roads lead travelers to the high mountain passes, and into narrow canyons like Dark Canyon where the crystalline rock structure of the peaks is exposed for all to see or into Mill Creek where Oowah Lake sparkles as a small jewel amid spruce trees.
Bordering town, the mighty Colorado skirts Arches National Park and cuts through the heart of Canyonlands National Park. Nearby, the historic and beautiful Green River carves its serpentine path through canyons deeper than the Grand Canyon. Trips range from mild-to-wild one-day and half-day excursions to multi-day rafting vacations. The Moab Adventure Center has information, continuous big-screen videos and special pricing. Advance reservations are suggested. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/rafting
Moab’s celebrated “canyonlands” is a postcard-perfect desert adorned with immense sandstone formations. Here, amazing red-rock terrain has eroded into canyon mazes, arches, spires and buttes. A 4x4 vehicle is perhaps the best way for people of all ages to experience the rugged beauty of this vast back country, and the vehicle which offers the most safety, comfort and exceptional climbing ability is unquestionably the Hummer®. Although the walk/hike is moderately strenuous in places, it can be enjoyed by anyone in reasonably good physical condition. A brief tour of the Park is provided along with the hike. Many cyclists first heard about Moab when word spread about the Moab Slickrock Trail which loops through an expanse of rippled, undulating sandstone resembling a frozen, orange ocean. Although the Slickrock may be the nation’s most famous fat-tire route, there are dozens of other rock-and-mountain roads and trails. Rides range from a few hours to three or four days. Even novice riders can sign up for relatively level, easy terrain. The Moab Adventure Center has several guided trips and information. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/biking
The sheer magnificence of the several state and national parks and monuments surrounding Moab can best be appreciated from the airborne perspective of an eagle. In just an hour or two of flight-seeing, you can experience all of Canyonlands National Park, including the sculptured, red-rock canyons of the Colorado and Green rivers. Comfortable and reliable Cessna aircraft provide window seating for each passenger. A detailed flight map and stereo headsets facilitate interpretation. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/flights
For those that have done it, they say it is like nothing else. The ride is smooth and tranquil in a balloon as you fly with the wind, rather than through it like fixed wing planes. With no fixed route or determined flight path, each balloon ride is a true adventure. Add to these sensations the thrill of an undulating desert floor rising and falling below you in dramatic sheer cliffs, spires, and gaping canyon country as far as the early morning light extends. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/hot-air-balloon-rides-moab-utah/
Venture into the Wild West with gentle cowboy-trained quarter horses. Guided by a professional wrangler, you'll explore the trails made famous by John Wayne himself. New tack and equipment will make your ride as comfortable as can be. So saddle-up and take a trek into the horizon of Moab. One of the best horseback rides can be found through Castle Creek Canyon with views of towering cliffs and famous Castle Rock. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/horseback
Visitors who “like to have it their way” can now call the shots on what they see and do in the area. The center’s custom tour program now puts all of this region’s ways and means of touring at the disposal of guests who prefer private travel over pre-set itineraries and group travel. MOAB, UT, Feb. 1, 2016 – How do you know where to go and what to do when you arrive at a vacation destination?
Take Moab, UT, for example, where a visitor could spend precious time just deciding on all the options and directions one can take for fun and adventure.
Now thanks to some local experts, the decisions are easier. In 24 concise pages the brand-new Pocket Guide Moab: Last Minute Itineraries for the Undecided Traveler, available through Amazon.com, showcases 20 popular itineraries in the other-worldly region of red rocks, national parks, rivers and canyons that surround Moab.
Co-authored byJamie Pearce, Manager of the Moab Adventure Center and Moab resident since 2003, and Annie Fuller, a long-time colleague at the center, the guide divides the itineraries by trip type: high adventure, scenic, classic and family friendly. Each itinerary suggests the time of day to begin an activity or sightseeing and then where locally to enjoy dining, spa and refreshment stops before, during and after.
The result of this guidebook is like having an informative chat on the street with a Moab friend who can suggest through experience the best options for where to go and what to do once you get there.
“For the time-stressed who didn’t have a chance to book activities in advance over the phone or through Moab Adventure Center’s on-line activities kiosk, this guidebook reflects our fielding of thousands of questions from visitors who came through our door looking for advice and reservations,” explains Pearce. “The popularity of our two national parks, Arches and Canyonlands, along with miles of backcountry hiking, biking, 4x4 and rafting opportunities, have made Moab a Mecca for adventure travelers.”
Among this guide’s many surprises are Dog Lover Day suggesting which trails are canine-friendly, and Movie Day which brings people onto the landscapes and sites of Hollywood’s “The Lone Ranger” and “Thelma and Louise”, among others.
The High Adventure Itineraries range from budget, do-it-yourself suggestions to a day of guided white-water rafting. What’s guaranteed is a unique take on getting off the beaten path.
In 2016, which is the Centennial Anniversary of the National Park System, expectations are high for a banner year for national park adventures as throngs participate in a centennial activity, www.findyourpark.com. Pearce and the Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/) are gearing up now to meet the demand and expectations of its projected record number of visitors.
While availability on Moab Adventure Center’s rafting, hot air balloon and other activities can usually be accommodated, lodging may be an issue and people should book accommodations well in advance, says Pearce.

Mix-it-up Action from X-Country Skiing to Hummer Safaris Encourages Zest for Adventure in Winter Months
Moab, UT, Nov. 9, 2015– Call Moab, Utah, Nature’s counterpart to Manhattan, the city that never sleeps. Moab doesn’t sleep either, even when the calendar turns to fall and early winter.
The rafting is still good on the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River through October. And stand up paddleboards can still be pulled over the water. Some of the most exhilarating hiking and mountain biking take place now with cooler temperatures that eventually will fan into flurries. Then come options for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. And any time of year guests can request hot air ballooning and hummer safaris from the Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/).
One suggestion for a long weekend is to pack snowshoes and cross country skis for an outing in the LaSal Mountains at 12,000 feet where the snow starts in late November and early December. Sledding and snowmobiling can be arranged. Adventurers can actually make a descent into the desert for early winter hiking and biking. Annual Moab Music Festival Tops Events Lineup, Hiking, Mountain Biking and Raft Trips From Moab Adventure Center Complete an Active Weekend
Moab, UT, August 18, 2015– The local inhabitants of Moab, Utah can’t wait until Labor Day, the start of their favorite season. The summer heat has mellowed, the hordes of tourists have moved on and festival season begins. It’s also prime time to do that last raft trip of the season, lace up the boots for an all-day national park hike or top off the fat tires on that mountain bike.
“Here in one of the world’s most spectacular natural playgrounds, September can fool visitors into thinking we have endless summer,” explains Jamie Pearce, longtime resident and manager of the one-stop shop for outdoor activity, the Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/). “The climate is still great with daytime temperatures averaging in mid-80’s F. It’s also again possible to snag a table at a favorite restaurant without a long wait!”
Pearce’s favorite fall event is the Annual Moab Music Festival (its 23rd year) scheduled for Sept. 3-14, 2015. “Music in Concert with the Landscape” features concerts that are staged inside a natural grotto, in private homes, at ranches, and various red rock venues around Moab. Performances celebrate old and new chamber music, jazz with a Latin flavor, and traditional music from around the globe.
Moab Music Festival is the first in a fall lineup that includes a challenging bike race, a downtown art walk, GLBTQ Pride Festival and the ‘Mother of All Boogies’ where participants worldwide converge on Moab for four full days of skydiving. These special events compliment a smorgasbord of outdoor adventures in and around Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/areainfo/calendar.php
On Sept. 26 visitors will enjoy a National Park Fee Free Day. Utah’s parks are joining national parks across the country in waiving entrance fees for several days in 2015 as a way to encourage people to get outdoors and spend time with their friends and family in the national parks. Moab Adventure Center Provides Multiple Solutions to the Puzzle With Access via Land, Water and Air
MOAB, UT, March 26, 2015– Isolation from civilization can be a good thing. The likes of Muir, Thoreau, and Abbey extoled the virtues of man’s relationship to nature; a few days in the wilderness is the perfect antidote to the cacophony of daily life.
Finding and accessing that oasis of escape is the key. That’s why those in need often head to Moab, Utah, one of America’s greatest (and most remote) natural playgrounds. Here beyond the limited network of roads which generally keep to the perimeter is the true wilderness of two national parks, Arches and Canyonlands, plus Utah’s Dead Horse Point State Park.
Escapists can immerse themselves for days at a time in these backcountry regions with the proper equipment and guidance from the staff at Moab Adventure Center, the region’s go-to source for outdoor adventure. They offer a variety of ways to experience the parks that are suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.
“Visitors should research and seek advice on how they can get the most out of the experiences the parks have to offer,” said Jamie Pearce, Manager of the Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/). “You can explore on your own and many do; but a guide can help you get into the heart and soul of these often hard-to-get-to places.”
For active adventurers, fat tire mountain biking is a great way to fathom the mysteries of millennia ensconced in the iconic red rocks that symbolize the area’s parks. Those new to mountain biking may opt for the Courthouse Loop trail with commanding views into Arches National Park ($95 for age 5+). The Intrepid Trail inside Dead Horse Point State Park is one of Moab's newest routes and features countless vistas of the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park ($95 for age 12+).
One way to explore Arches National Park is on a guided hike into the maze-like Fiery Furnace (Adult: $89, Youth 5-15: $67). Best accessed in the company of an experienced guide, this hike twists and turns among contorted orange-tan fins, towers, spires and arches. Moab Adventure Center guides lead two-hour hikes in this trackless area, pointing out hidden attractions such as Surprise and Twin Arches. Although the hike is moderately strenuous in places, it can be enjoyed by anyone in reasonably good physical condition.
“But when it comes to pockets of true isolation, Canyonlands is it,” says Pearce. “For example, to get to the park’s Maze District, most people take a long, arduous hike following a long dusty drive to the trailhead. However, by raft on a four-day Cataract Canyon trip (Adult: $1395, Youth 10-15: $1045), you can access a site in the Maze called The Doll House via a scenic hike from the river. The trail is steep, climbing over 1,000 feet from the river to the top of the canyon, but certainly beats the 7.5 hour drive from Moab to get to this location.”
When it comes to exploring Canyonlands, visitors should keep in mind that in this wilderness of stone there are no roads that link from one “district” or iconic point to another. Although these points may appear close on a map, the distances are between two to six hours by car. For this reason, most visitors find it impractical to visit more than one area in a single trip.
One solution is a scenic flyover based out of Moab (tours start at Adult: $123, Youth 3-15: $123, 2 & Under: Free). In a high-wing Cessna aircraft equipped with voice-activated headphones passengers enjoy conversations with the pilot who is also the tour guide. Everyone has a window seat to take in views of Arches, Canyonlands or Monument Valley, depending upon the tour. The pilot will describe the geology and dynamics of the Colorado River and Green River, the Island in the Sky, and the rugged Maze and Needles Districts of Canyonlands, the Windows of Arches and more.
MoabAdventure Center can also arrange for a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Moab backcountry. Flights last about an hour and are priced at $300 for participants age 6 and up.

MOAB, UT, Feb. 23, 2015 – Those magazine and newspaper articles about three perfect days somewhere in the world remind that planning ahead may be preferred to winging it on vacations.
One of the world’s great natural playgrounds graced with a rugged entrepreneurial spirit, Moab, UT, offers infinite permutations of three perfect days; however the local experts at Moab Adventure Center offer their own favorites for all to consider.
“Every visitor to Moab has a different reason for coming here and that’s what makes this place so appealing! There’s no limit to the many ways you can enjoy it. We have offered our suggestions for three perfect days in and around Moab but I have to believe there are a thousand more combinations one can experience. Just follow your dreams and desires and come see how Moab has become THE hippest town in Utah!” says Jamie Pearce, Manager, Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/)
Pearce challenged her staff to come up with their thoughts on three perfect days that can be interpolated by guests’ specific interests.
Pre-Trip Arrive in Moab late in the day after connecting to Moab’s Canyonlands Field Airport (CNY) through Salt Lake City. Take a taxi into town. From there everything is pretty much walking distance. Book a room for four nights at The Gonzo Inn. This hip accommodation is designed with comfort and fun in mind. “Gonzo’s eclectic expression of Southwestern influences, retro 70's and industrial era is entertaining and tantalizing to the senses,” Pearce says.
Day 1 Enjoy a complimentary Continental breakfast with an espresso at the Gonzo before an 8 a.m. meet-up for a full day raft trip down the Colorado River experiencing such rapids as Onion Creek, Cloudburst, Ida Gulch and the famous Whites Rapid. There’s plenty of time to relax and swim, followed by a cowboy BBQ lunch at Red Cliffs Ranch. MOAB, UT, Nov. 24, 2014 – From November to March visitors to Moab, UT, often find themselves in solitude and silence, at the same time enjoying off-season rates in one of the world’s great natural playgrounds.
Many of the outdoor experiences offered during warm weather months continue through winter, said Jamie Pearce, manager of the Moab Adventure Center. “Think trail running and hiking, exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Parks by air or trail, Hummer safaris and touring by motor coach; or snowshoe, cross-country ski and back-country ski and snowmobiling in the La Sal Mountains rising some 12,000 feet over Moab.”
Several outfitters stay open year-round. La Sal Mountain Nordic Skiing & Hut Rentals arranges back-country ski tours and rustic accommodations for up to 10. Located on Moab’s main drag, Moab Adventure Center http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/ provides the following services year-round:
The Gonzo Inn, Sunflower Hill B&B and Fairfield Inn & Suites Moab near Arches National Park offer a choice of lodging styles at off-season rates. Moab Adventure Center carries an inventory of outdoor gear, clothing and equipment in its downtown store location.
“Our team knows the ins and outs of the region’s mountains, canyons and national parks and we can mix and match suggestions for both independent and guided activities to match visitor abilities, budgets and interests,” said Pearce.
Moab Winter Calendar of Events (see:http://www.discovermoab.com/calendar.htm)
Winter Climate / Weather in Moab, Utah
Temperatures are moderate, with daytime highs averaging 44°F in December, 43°F in January, 52°F in February and 63°F in March. There is little to no precipitation. The parks’ scenery changes very little from season to season. Juniper trees stay green year-round. Cottonwood trees grow in the bottom of washes and lose their leaves. The main attractions - the red sandstone formations - take on a richer hue in moist conditions and transform themselves when flocked with snow. Heavy snowfall is uncommon. Winter storms occur occasionally and they typically drop rain or light snow. Snow usually melts quickly in sunny areas but may accumulate in shady spots and turn to ice. Winter hikers need to be prepared to cross snow on some trail sections and to use great care if there is ice on trails. Most of the trails in the national park go through areas where there is plenty of sunshine and it is usually very pleasant to hike during the day. Typically all that’s needed is a jacket. Spring comes early in the Arches area. By late February, tiny wild flowers are starting to push through the soil and nighttime temperatures are moderating. February is a great month to visit the park.

Great Fall Climate Now Through October Creates Ideal Conditions for Backcountry Fat Tire Biking In and Around Moab, Utah
MOAB, UT, Sept. 25, 2014– The Moab Adventure Center has been gearing up to outfit the demand for mountain bike trail riding thanks to Moab’s new mountain bike trail building boom. Nearly 30 new trails or extensions of existing routes have been blazed over the past 18 months.
“We’ve seen a steady increase in riders this year, partly due to the news getting out that a number of new trails have been established around Moab,” explains Jamie Pearce, Manager of Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/). “We’re here to help with suggestions, logistics, gear and outfitting as needed. We can also take riders on guided small group mountain bike adventures.”
Claiming that it takes more than a week to ride all of the trails here, Trail Mix, the organization behind the commitment to increasing excitement levels for mountain bikers, says there are now trails for all levels so the whole family can enjoy a two-wheel vacation based in Moab.
Trail Mix is an advisory committee to Grand County, Utah, that builds and maintains trails, mostly on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. The name comes from "The Mix" of non motorized trail users: hiking, biking, equestrian and skiing, explained Sandy Freethey, Grand County Trail Mix Chair.
Typically the organization builds about 25 miles of new trail annually after a three-to-12-month BLM approval process. On average, a mile of trail is built in up to two weeks. It may take longer when grip hoists to move large rocks or bench cutting are involved. Trail Mix prides itself on building trails quickly and for less money than in other areas. The work is done with two paid workers and two or more regular volunteers.
“We get a lot of trail built utilizing volunteers who come to town in the spring and fall from various colleges, youth groups, Outward Bound and Boy Scouts. These groups help us build for a day and are gone. But with 10-15 hands the trail building moves forward quickly,” said Freethey. “The International Mountain Bicycling Association (locally the newly formed Moab Mt. Bike Association) was active this summer involving local bikers in work party weekends building new trails in the LaSal Mts. working with the Forest Service. They had a great turn out of 25- 30 people for those weekend builds.”
Freethey lists some of the major the new mountain bike trails created in 2013-2014 in and around Moab:
Dead Horse Point West Side Trails: Crossroads, Whiptail, Prickly Pair, Twisted Tree. In 2013 the trail system was doubled in length. Dead Horse Point State Park now has 17 miles of singletrack. The Park is located approximately 30 miles from Moab.
Amasa Back Area: Captain Ahab and HyMasa. The Amasa Back Trail is a jeep trail that climbs about 1,000 feet to a mesa top overlooking the Colorado River and the Kane Creek Anticline. A short bike ride from town, this trail is challenging and fun for experienced mountain bikers.
Klondike additions: Alaska, Homer, Nome, Jurrasic, Inside Passage, Chilkoot Pass, Miner's Loop, Dino Flow N. Extension. The Klondike Bluffs Trail represents a step up in terms of exertion and skills required, but is still enjoyable for fit novice mountain bikers. The route follows a jeep trail across Moab Member slickrock imprinted with fossilized dinosaur tracks. The jeep trail terminates at the boundary of Arches National Park, where a short hike leads to the top of the bluffs and an impressive viewpoint.
Moab Brands: Sidewinder, Escape, couple of short spur connector trails. Take U.S. 191 North about 8 miles to the Bar-M Chuckwagon; turn right to enter the Bar-M private parking lot. Choose from a variety of family and novice-friendly trails over varied terrain. There are some moderately difficult single track and slickrock sections as well.
Navajo Rocks: This is off Hwy 313; the first 7 miles are complete; another 9 miles are planned, all providing an intermediate ride with aerobic climbs, heart-skipping descents and moderately smooth cross-country travel. An average grade is about 6% with 5 or 6 stretches exceeding 15%.
Klonzo II: South Unit: Roller Coaster, The Red Hot, Midway, Hot Dog, Houdini, Zoltar, Top Spin, Carousel, Wizard, Gypsy, Magician, (and coming soon the new Gravitron Trail off of Wahoo). The trailhead for the Klonzo Trails is on the Willow Springs Road approximately 12 miles north of Moab. This trail system currently has 7 trails mostly for intermediate skill level.
Gold Bar Rim - aka Blue Dot: The BLM has this trail to build. There will be some changes and short re-routes around an archaeology site and one re route for a better line to the old Blue Dot, hopefully done by the end of the year. Technically it’s not legal to ride yet with a surface all slickrock along shallow drainages.
Moab, Utah has become the undisputed hub for mountain bike enthusiasts by virtue of its beautiful red rock terrain, views that go on forever and trails that range from beginner to advanced and suit all riding abilities. The Moab Adventure Center offers professionally guided Moab mountain biking tours on all of Moab's classic rides.
Recommended for those new to mountain biking or mountain biking in the Moab area is the Courthouse Loop ride or the Canyonlands Sunrise ride. For a more intermediate experience, check out the Klondike Bluffs or Deadhorse Point Intrepid Trail rides. http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/trips/biking/

MOAB, UT, June 19, 2014 – A visit to Moab, UT, one of the world’s great natural playgrounds, may include independent backcountry hiking with only a map for a guide or a more in-depth exploration that may include canyoneering and rappelling where assistance by a professional guide is often recommended.
“Most people who come to our area do short hikes on their own,” said Jamie Pearce, manager of the Moab Adventure Center http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/. “Our helpful staff is always ready to offer suggestions and trailhead directions and take care of whatever outfitting they may need.” The center sells a full line of outdoor gear, clothing and equipment.
“Our team knows the ins and outs of the region’s mountains, canyons and national parks and we can mix and match suggestions for both independent and guided activities to match visitor abilities, budgets and interests,” explains Pearce.
Pearce points to several hikes are only a half-mile roundtrip for beginners or folks with limited time. For example, in Arches National Park is Sand Dune Arch, also the name of what she calls “a fun, funky hike” that weaves through the red rock to reveal a natural sand dune actually under an arch. Another hike, Double Arch, leads to the phenomenon of two arches stacked on top of each other. In Canyonlands National Park there’s a short hike to Mesa Arch with stunning views.
Longer hikes might include a mile roundtrip to Upheaval Dome, “a geological phenomenon in the desert where you look downward into rock layers,” she says. The four-mile-roundtrip Morning Glory Arch hike is into and through a canyon, wandering through red rock with the company of a little stream and some riparian life. “There are rolling hills and this hike is fairly easy,” she notes.
However, more complex hikes may have different start and end points that will require transfers or vehicle shuttles. She suggests that assistance with logistics and a guide’s knowledge will enhance the experience. One such hike is a more extreme trek from Moab Rim to Hidden Valley. “This is a steep hike (around six miles) with vistas of the Colorado River and overlooking the town of Moab. The path drops to a canyon called Hidden Valley where the magic of prehistory is revealed in rock carvings known as petroglyphs. There is a steep downhill on shale requiring good shoes,” she adds.
Moab Adventure Center guides also enter the picture when guests want to delve deeper and more extensively into the geology and history of the area, or if they’ve commissioned a custom program where the logistics require assistance, she says. The instances might include canyon rappelling and advanced mountain biking, in addition to challenging hiking opportunities.
Pearce recalled a group who took a guided jeep tour to a pair of natural rock spans known as Gemini Bridges. They rappelled down the bridges and were transported from the bottom of the rappel back to their hotel. The same group then did a downhill mountain bike tour through Onion Creek followed by a two-day whitewater raft trip through Cataract Canyon.
Other opportunities for guides to enhance an experience include custom photography tours. “People say, ‘I want this shot and I want it at this time of day.’ Our guides can accommodate these requests,” she says. “Others ask for wildflower tours, archaeology and rock art tours, and paleontology tours to see dinosaur tracks. Sometimes groups of seniors will ask for guides who can assist their experiences. Others heave heard about our sunset tour with catered dinner atop a vista of the Colorado River.”
The cost for a private tour with a guide, equipment and transportation ranges between $150 to $350 per hour depending upon the activity and group size.
“People who are very, very interested in certain things in Moab, or who want the experience all to themselves, will book these highly personal experiences,” she says.
Guests who prefer joining a pre-set group tour can enjoy a 10 percent discount when combining three or more full- or half-day activities in a package.

Moab, UT, May 14, 2014– Taking a breather from the daily routine is the essence of a good vacation. For fitness enthusiasts, this might mean leaving behind the neighborhood gym and personal trainer but it doesn’t have to mean foregoing cross-fit workouts.
In a natural playground surrounded by mountains, canyons and national parks, Moab, UT, extends a welcome to cross-fit devotees. The Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/) provides a one-stop planning and fulfillment resource for a wide spectrum of outdoor activities that can help keep minds and bodies in shape when away from the gym.
“We don’t claim to call what we offer a ‘true cross-fit program’. But following the same objectives of total body fitness we can arrange an active vacation that incorporates the goals of cross-fit by working different muscle groups while engaging in a variety of fun-but-challenging outdoor activities” says Brandon Lake, Moab Adventure Center co-founder.
In line with cross-fit’s strategy of strengthening and conditioning the whole body through challenging workouts, guests may combine half and full-day activities in the Moab region that together provide a total body workout, Lake says. In addition to planning cross-fit activities, Moab Adventure Center can arrange a variety of basic-to-luxury lodging options and suggest dining venues that provide nutritional meals, also a key to a full fitness and wellness program.
Following are Moab Adventure Center’s suggested cross-fit activities:
Guests can enjoy a 10 percent discount when combining three or more full- or half-day activities in a package. Bordering Moab to the north and west, Utah’s red rock fantasylands, Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park, offer visitors an immersion course in geology and ancient cultures.
