Resmark Systems Introduces Mobile Booking System For Tour Operators in Adventure Travel Industry

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Feb. 25, 2013 -- Resmark Systems, “Tour Operator Software Created by Tour Operators,” recently launched a mobile booking system for tour companies that enables potential clients to book partial to multiple-day tours and activities by smart phone and tablet. 

This newly developed capability is an incredibly intuitive and mobile-friendly online reservation process that allows tour operators to take advantage of the new mobile reality. Resmark reports the system is significantly increasing mobile reservations and efficiencies. 

“One of our clients, Moab Adventure Center, has increased mobile reservations by over 400 percent using this new booking system from Resmark,” reports Chip Broyles, Client Success Manager for Resmark. 

The mobile booking process was designed to be simple.  Once a tour has been selected and the booking page accessed, users select a date on an easy-to-use calendar, choose the number of participants, and check out.  Tour operators have the option to up-sell additional items in the process if they wish. 

Once someone has booked their tour, they receive a link that allows them to fill out additional information that the tour operator may require. “This keeps the booking process on a mobile device simple for the guest, but allows the tour operator to collect the information they need from participants,” explains Broyles. 

A company can set up this new Resmark system with a few lines of code that allow booking buttons to be placed anywhere on a tour operator's website. Buttons can even be embedded on a travel partner's website, i.e. another tour operator, travel agent or a local hotel or campground.

Utah’s Moab Adventure Center is First to Use the New Time-Saving Technology

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Jan. 22, 2013 --  The Moab Adventure Center, http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/, a one-stop, active travel resource for independent and guided multi-sport adventures in the Moab, Arches and Canyonlands National Park region, now sports a new self-service booking kiosk for visitors to peruse, pick and choose a variety of recreational activities such as rafting, biking, canyoneering and four-wheeling.

The Resmark booking kiosk is much less expensive than traditional kiosks as it simply uses the touch screen technology of an iPad to display available tours and allow guests to complete a purchase.  The reservation experience is designed to fit perfectly on the iPad screen, providing an easy and intuitive interface for users.

Moab Adventure Center decided to house the iPad in a large wooden cabinet to provide more prominence and the feeling of a kiosk, but the iPad or any tablet could be presented in a simple enclosure at a counter or on a wall as preferred by the client.

“This online booking kiosk offers a unique opportunity to capture the attention of visitors who may not be ready to jump into a conversation about a tour or who may just prefer self-service.  With a growing trend towards self-service kiosks at airports and self-serve checkout at the grocery store, it's likely that more and more people will gravitate towards this method of purchase,” said Chip Broyles, Client Success Manager for Resmark.

On busy days, the kiosk at Moab Adventure Center will act as an additional employee, allowing guests to bypass a line of people at the reservations desk.  “If such a booking kiosk were housed outside the store, it could also serve as an after hours opportunity for people who stop by later in the evening to book a trip,” notes Broyles.

Resmark Systems Tour Operator Software Launches “Bright Angel” Custom Fields That Can Define Any Activity Outfitter Offers

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, July 31, 2011 Resmark Systems (http://www.resmarksystems.com/), the premier marketing and reservation software platform for tour operators in the adventure travel industry, announces its July 20 release of “Bright Angel,” an upgrade that makes the system even more flexible and powerful for tour operators throughout North America. Included in this recent release is an exciting custom fields upgrade that allows outfitters to gather critical information of any kind for their activities. 

"If a diving or rafting company has the need to collect information such as wetsuit size, for example, a Resmark client can create and pre-define a dropdown list of sizes that can be chosen for in-house and online reservations. They can also associate this wetsuit size only with applicable activities, leaving non-wetsuit adventures untouched," says Bryce Cottam, Resmark's Director of Technology. 

This feature allows customers new to Resmark more latitude in importing existing customer databases after upgrading to Resmark from an old reservation system. 

Chip Broyles, Client Success Manager for Resmark, said, “While we have always had a migration history field that allowed a new client to import past reservation history information, we wanted our new clients to be able to have a field labeled the same as they may have had in their old system. This new feature allows that to happen, and makes an upgrade to Resmark that much smoother, and that much more complete." 

Another feature of the enhanced version just released is the ability to handle online “tiered pricing” discounts. While many companies offer standard rates for adult and youth, many offer additional discounts for other pricing tiers, such as senior or child. Resmark's latest upgrade allows for more accurate gathering of guests that fall into these discounted pricing tiers, and helps create a better overall online experience for the guest. 

Another breakthrough concerns enhanced flexibility in accurately calculating taxes on a per agency basis, simplifying arrangements with outside sales agents and the management of sales taxes.  

Resmark has also been keeping an eye on the world of mobile technology. Chad Allen, the designer at the helm of Resmark's new design division called Resmark Interactive (http://www.resmarkinteractive.com), said that by 2013 instead of using the traditional desktop computer, more internet users will use a mobile device to access their information.

Resmark Systems Tour Operator Software Announces New Digital Departure Displays

Other New Program Enhancements Assist in Packaging Activities, Events and Accommodations and Increasing Sales to Current Customers 

SALT LAKE CITY, May 5, 2011 – In Moab, UT, visitors can now go to the Moab Adventure Center office, gaze upon an easy-to-read electronic display and determine what activities they can sign up for on the spot or perhaps enjoy tomorrow or the next day.  

“Guests love it! They don’t waste time figuring out what’s available or what to do. They can easily see that a jeep safari or perhaps a river trip is starting in 10 minutes, and they’re out the door,” said Brandon Lake, founder of Resmark Systems (http://www.resmarksystems.com/). “It’s quite similar to those departure/arrival screens you see at the airport, but it’s designed to showcase adventure activities,” Lake adds.  

The feature is one of several new advances in Resmark Systems Tour Operator Software designed to save tour operators time while enhancing revenues.   

Lake said that clients purchase their own display hardware, like a flat screen LCD monitor, and link it to their reservation database via a simple browser connection to the Internet.  Once they’ve chosen what trips they would like to display, the screen then updates changes in availability every five minutes which the in-store customers can then see.  “It creates a great sense of urgency for customers considering what to do next,” explains Lake.  

“This is incredibly useful in any location where people purchase activities on a walk-in basis. The purpose of the display is to channel new bookings into activity launches that are already confirmed and are close to departure. Booking any remaining space on these launches would generally be considered your highest priority as it often results in your greatest profit,” said Lake. Some 30 activities can be listed chronologically by the minute noting such things as “Limited Availability, Available, or Sold-Out.” 

Another new Resmark enhancement allows tour operators to create packages of per-person based activities, such as an adventure tour, and then combine it with unit-based items, such as lodging rooms or item rentals.  The desired package elements are assembled in the database and are sold to the customer with per person adult and per person child rates. 

“The savings in time to the tour operator is pretty significant when you don’t have to deal with the components of a package,” says Lake, noting that Resmark clients experience time savings of over 50 percent when they start using Resmark overall. “These features become more important in a time of lean budgets and staffing.”

Resmark Systems Tour Operator Software Helps Secure Bookings and Revenue Streams for Long Point Eco Adventures

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Nov 1, 2010 – Long Point Eco Adventures www.lpfun.ca in St. Williams, Ontario, Canada is best known for its Zip Line Canopy tour involving eight zip lines, two suspension sky bridges and a 40’ rappel at the end of the course. “Resmark has also enabled us to manage and offer additional revenue generating products such as a zip line photo package where shots of guests in action automatically upload to a server in our office. We have seen about 20 percent of our clients purchase these photos on the spot.  We have also implemented school packages that include zip lines along with teambuilding, interpretive hikes, pottery lessons, and classes in life systems, Earth and space.

Martin did point out that he is looking forward to the slower off-season when he’ll be able to implement and train his staff on other marketing features built into the Resmark software system.
 
“Our operation has been quite busy since the grand opening in 2009. This has limited us to using just part of the whole system, something which we are now working on. The automated e-mail function with built-in database will be a huge leap forward for building repeat bookings, as well as a time saver for general inquires that come through on a day-to-day basis,” Martin noted.

Adventure Tour Operators Surveyed on Use of Social Media: “Travel, Tweets & Trends” Reveals Potential, Challenges

 

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 29, 2010 – A newly released travel industry survey asks the questions; how important is social media to adventure travel tour operators and how are they using it?
 
“As the first study of this scale ever conducted with this specific market, we’ve discovered some very interesting findings,” said Brandon Lake, founder of Resmark Systems that with the 600-plus-member Adventure Travel Trade Association and Convince & Convert, a social media consultancy, recently released findings of a survey called Travel, Tweets & Trends.
 
Lake said the study revealed that 48% of North American travel tour operators participate in social media on a daily basis, and of those, 77% participate in social media at least weekly. However, finding showed that just 13 percent of the companies surveyed cited social media as generating 10 percent or more of their revenue.
 
“If we repeated this survey again next year, chances are we’d see these percentages substantially increase,” Lake said, adding that there seems to be a serious void in actually measuring effectiveness and thereby tracking resulting revenue. Consequently, companies aren’t sure how much time and labor to devote to social media efforts. Seventy percent of companies that use social media, effectively or not so, now spend only $5,000 or less annually and 10 hours per week or fewer to work the potential of social media.
 
The study also found that Facebook is the dominant social media tactic, with more adventure tour operators now using Facebook than email newsletters. Beyond Facebook usage, the study uncovered some specific cases of social media use that could provide greater business impact for many tour operators.
 
“The travel market has an incredible opportunity to see major impact from social media since travelers love nothing more than sharing their travels,” said Lake. “We found operators who had systems that automatically generated content from guests in blogs, Facebook and other social networks. Other companies have discovered ways to get reservations directly from twitter. We also found a few making excellent use of guest videos online.”
 
“This research represents the most current and comprehensive study yet conducted on the how, ways and whys of social media usage within the travel and tour operator community,” said Lake.  Over 225 tour operators from 5 continents answered the 23-question survey exploring the subject of social media.
