Experience Prudential RideLondon-Surrey, the World’s Greatest Festival of Cycling

MANCHESTER, UK, March 4, 2020 – Since the event’s inception eight years ago, Sports Tours International has hosted international visitors participating in one of the most-sought-after bicycle rides in the world.

After an inaugural in the 2012 Olympics, the 2020 Prudential Ride on April 16, 2020, is today the world’s most sought-after festival of cycling. Last year 100,000 riders participated across all events.

For riders interested in the 46- or 100-mile closed road events, Sports Tours International’s specialty is making it easy for participants and spectators to access world-class competitions. For this year’s RideLondon-Surrey competition, Sports Tours International offers Guaranteed Entry and accommodation packages for international cyclists and spectators.

“Think about the vast number of riders and their guests jockeying for hotels and the riders themselves trying to gain entry into the event,” said Ross Litherland, Sports Marketing Manager of U.K.-based Sports Tours International. “What we offer is a no-brainer – one-stop shopping that clears the way to having a good time in London.”

Packages include accommodations with taxes and breakfasts at the 4-star Melia White House in near Regents Park in central London; bike storage at the hotel; services of a dedicated staff and a Sports Tours International cycling jersey made by Castelli. Lodging and ride packages (for either 46 or 100 miles) including the entry fee are from £429 per person. Rates for non-riders are reduced by £100.

In addition to the main attraction, on Sunday, Aug. 15 is a free event, 2020-Prdential RideLondon Grand Prix series and the Prudential RideLondon Freewheel event. These are also held on closed roads.

Riders are encouraged to attend a Sports Tours International race briefing at the hotel. Dedicated staff are available also at the hotel to answer questions and to lead a guided ride to the start. An area outside near the hotel will be designated for bike assembly.

The Melia White House is within walking distance to Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus and Camden Town. The neighborhood is well served by three underground stations with a five minutes’ walk. For details please see  https://www.sportstoursinternational.co.uk/events/ridelondon/

In 2017 PrudentialRide London-Surrey was folded into the London Classics, a triathlon billed as the UK’s greatest mass participation challenge. To be part of the overall Classics series, participants must enter and compete in PrudentialRide London-Surrey 100 as well as in Swim Serpentine, a two-mile swim on a lake in Hyde Park in London on Sept. 12, 2020, and in the Virgin Money LondonMarathon scheduled April 26, 2020. Awards are given for successfully participating in all three events, although participation can be spread out in different years. All successful participants will receive a specially-designed London Classics medal engraved with the words Et ego Londinium vici (“I too have conquered London”) and will be listed in the London Classics Hall of Fame.

To be awarded a London Classics medal, one must finish all three Classics events:

  • Virgin Money London Marathon
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100
  • Swim Serpentine two-mile swim

There is no time limit on when these are completed and they can be done in any order. For details see  https://www.thelondonclassics.co.uk/

Sports Tours International Invites North Americans to Italy’s Mountains to Witness Excitement of Giro d’Italia 2020

MANCHESTER, UK, Jan. 28, 2020 – Here’s a shout out to fans of competitive cycling.

Sports Tours International had Americans top of mind when it designed two European cycle and spectate vacations celebrating the Giro d’Italia 2020 this spring.

Why?

Because overseas visitors from North America can be there, right on the routes, to support two cyclists from the United States who plan to throw their prowess against Richard Carapaz of Ecuador, who will be returning to Giro d’Italia 2020 to defend his title. The Yanks are Tejay van Garderen of Tacoma, WA, and Travis McCabe, an Arizona native who rides for UCI World Team Israel Start-Up Nation.

Also expected to compete are international cycling stars Geraint Thomas of Wales; Romain Bardet of France; Jakob Fuglsang, born in Switzerland, now of Denmark; Remco Evenepoel of Belgium; the UK’s Simon Yates; current individual time trial world champion Rohan Dennis of Australia; Vincenzo “The Shark” Nibali of Italy and Peter Sagan of Slovakia.

The Giro d’Italia, along with the Tour de France and La Vuelta a Espana, is one of the Grand Tours of cycling, a key event in the pro tour calendar.

Sports Tours International’s spectator and action vacation packages include:

May 19-25: 2020 Giro d’Italia and Nove Colli is a seven-day immersion in bikes and mountains including VIP finish hospitality in Rimini, a stage of the race dedicated to the 100th birthday of film director Federico Fellini. Also heralded this week will be the late Marco Pantani whose forte was grinding up mountains and who lived and trained in Cesenatico, a host town (think 14th century) for the tour. There will also be toasts to the 50th edition of Gran Fondo Nove Colli itself, an icon of Italian amateur cycling events. If Sports Tours International guests opt to ride this gran fondo, they will cross the finish line a day before the pros advance to Stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia that follows exactly the same route as the gran fondo. This is a tough event with a distance of 205km to be conquered and 3800 meters of climbing across Nove Colle (nine hills). The shorter 130km distance takes riders across four hills.

The package includes Finish VIP Hospitality in Rimini, Cross the Finish Experience on the Cesenatico Stage, Access to the start village in Cervia, five nights lodging (sea view) with breakfasts and dinners in Cesenatico, roundtrip transfers from the Bologna airport and one night accommodation in Bologna, the services of a bike guide and mechanic, bike storage and access to a private beach on the Adriatic. Look to Sports Tours International to Secure Entry to October’s KBC Dublin Marathon 2019

MANCHESTER, UK, April 8, 2019– Think Dublin’s fair city, 600 roebuck grazing on an autumn green and a herd of runners, 21,000 strong, pounding through Europe’s fourth largest marathon.

This is the setting for the 40th annual KBC Dublin Marathon scheduled for Oct. 27, 2019.

Even though race entries were sold out months ago, Sports Tours International is coming the rescue of runners panting for a chance to break a sweat in an Irish mist. This company has an allocation of guaranteed entries that will get sprinters – and walkers -- to the start line; and in addition, the company can secure two- or three-night hotel and sightseeing packages as well. See: https://www.sportstoursinternational.co.uk/events/dublin-marathon/

Through Sports Tours International the Marathon entry is £80 per person (with goody bag, t shirt and medal included). A per person accommodation rate from £329 includes:

  • 2/3 nights at a choice of city center Dublin hotels near the start and finish

  • An evening of traditional live music, songs, dance (Riverdance Style Show with champion Irish dancers).

Dublin is an ancient city founded over 1000 years ago by Vikings. Today the city is famous for its sightseeing, nightlife, pubs, restaurants, literary history and the very friendly 1 million inhabitants. The relatively flat marathon route is one big loop around Dublin, north and south of the river Liffey. Runners dash through many of the old villages that now make up the city. Communities compete to give the warmest reception to runners as they pass through. Competitors run through Phoenix Park (twice the size of New York’s Central Park) that will be resplendent in autumn colors, including the russet flanks of the herd of 600 wild deer that have been park inhabitants for over 300 years. The closing miles are a gentle downhill to a grandstand finish line. The course will be open for seven hours. Start times are in four waves beginning at 9 a.m., allowing both runners and walkers to be sipping Guinness in a pub by mid-afternoon.

Martin Joyce is a Dubliner who founded Sports Travel International that joined the Sports Tours International family of companies in 2018. He recommends the following sightseeing tours while in Dublin:

  • Guinness Storehouse: Ireland’s number 1 visitor attraction with a 250-year history of the famous drink in an interactive exhibition. A glass of Guinness is included in the price at the end of the tour.
  • Public Dublin City Tour:The best hop on/ hop off bus tour of the city. A live commentary by trained guides is included on most tours.
  • Half Day City Tour with or without the Guinness Storehouse: A 4-hour city tour that picks guests up at their hotels. The tour includes Phoenix Park (Europe’s largest city park), Historic Georgian Dublin, Traditional pub Nancy Hands for a free Guinness.
